Silva to Assess Mitrovic's Fitness Ahead of Hammers Clash
Fulham manager Marco Silva has admitted that star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is a major doubt for the club's upcoming Premier League clash against West Ham United on Saturday. Mitrovic, who has been in scintillating form for the Cottagers this season, sustained an injury while on international duty with Serbia during the recent FIFA break.
The injury has left Silva bemused, with the Portuguese tactician questioning the Serbian medical team's management of Mitrovic's injury. "Mitrovic is a doubt for the game against West Ham," Silva said in his pre-match press conference. "He has an injury that he picked up on international duty.
"I'm not sure what happened with Serbia, but we'll assess him and see if he's available for selection. We'll make a late call on him," Silva added.
Mitrovic's absence would be a huge blow to Fulham, who have relied heavily on the Serbian's goals this season. The 28-year-old has scored 11 goals in 15 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers this campaign, including a stunning hat-trick against Aston Villa in Fulham's last home match.
