‘A Touch More’ is available to stream on ESPN+

Seattle Storm legend Sue Bird and OL Reign and US women’s national soccer team star Megan Rapinoe are featured on the cover of the special edition of ESPN’s “A Touch More,” a six-part docuseries that examines the impact of Title IX ahead of the 50th anniversary of its enactment.

The first two episodes of “A Touch More” premiered last week on ESPN2 and are now available on ESPN+. The remaining four episodes will premiere on ESPN2 and stream on ESPN+ over the next two weeks.

Bird, who retired from the WNBA after leading the Storm to their fourth championship in 2022, and Rapinoe, who helped the USWNT win the 2019 World Cup, are two of the most decorated and influential athletes in their respective sports.

In “A Touch More,” Bird and Rapinoe share their personal experiences with Title IX and how it has shaped their lives and careers.

Bird, who grew up in Long Island, New York, said Title IX allowed her to play basketball at the highest level.

“I remember being in elementary school and not being able to play basketball with the boys,” Bird said. “Title IX changed that and gave me the opportunity to play the sport I love.”

Rapinoe, who grew up in Redding, California, said Title IX helped her to become a more confident and assertive person.

“Title IX taught me that I could do anything I set my mind to,” Rapinoe said. “It gave me the belief that I could be a professional athlete and that I could make a difference in the world.”

Bird and Rapinoe are just two of the many athletes who have benefited from Title IX. The law has had a profound impact on women’s sports in the United States, increasing participation rates and opportunities for girls and women.

“A Touch More” is a powerful and inspiring look at the impact of Title IX. The docuseries features interviews with dozens of athletes, coaches, and administrators who have been involved in women’s sports over the past 50 years.

The docuseries is a must-watch for anyone who is interested in the history of women’s sports in the United States and the impact of Title IX.
